Bindu Garapaty co founded The Happy Leader, LLC in 2008 with Mudita Rastogi PhD. in response to recognizing the importance of understanding cultural identity and cultural influence in leadership development. Her research has focused on leadership development, self-awareness and cultural identity. While tapping into her own leadership identity and experiences, Bindu created a pioneering training model leveraging existing research on cultural identity development, leadership and industry standard tools such as Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) and 360 degree processes.
The training curricula focuses on increasing happiness, improving performance, overcoming adversity and enhancing the human experience of resiliency for youth and adults. Bindu’s passions lie in education, training and empowering women and youth.
Bindu holds a doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) and has presented at national and international forums in areas of leadership, education, and women’s health. She has held various clinical and leadership roles within health care, hospital, university, and for profit and nonprofit organizations. She is a firm believer of giving back and has been volunteering since 1988 and serves on several non-profit boards.
As a multifaceted leader Bindu is also a Maternal/Child health consultant and leader in that space. She has worked with University of Illinois at Chicago and NorthShore University HealthSystems to advance public awareness and understanding of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and was involved in programs that led to great strides in improving healthcare delivery in women’s mental health.
This passion continues as she works with the California Maternal Mental Health Collaborative and together with a team of powerful leaders is launching a national call to action: 2020 Mom Project.
